Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education The mission of the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education is to provide an excellent, efficient, accessible and affordable system of higher education designed to improve the overall educational attainment of Rhode Islanders and thereby enrich the intellectual, economic, social and cultural life of the state, its residents, and its communities.
Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of RI AICU Rhode Island is an alliance representing degree-granting, accredited independent institutions of higher learning in the State of Rhode Island. AICU Rhode Island addresses common interests and concerns of independent colleges and universities and serves as the unified, collective voice of its eight member institutions. AICU Rhode Island provides federal and state level policy and program leadership on higher education issues and coordinates the activities of Rhode Island's independent colleges and universities.
Learn & Serve America Learn and Serve America supports and encourages service-learning throughout the United States, and enables over one million students to make meaningful contributions to their community while building their academic and civic skills. By engaging our nation's young people in service-learning, Learn and Serve America instills an ethic of lifelong community service.
Serve Rhode Island Founded in 1994 (formerly the RI Service Alliance) is a nonprofit organization that serves as a state commission for national and community service, currently running nine AmeriCorps State programs statewide. SRI distributes up to $4 million of federal funds each year to vital nonprofit and local government agencies, partnering with over 40 grassroots initiatives, whose resources are devoted to improving education.
Volunteer Center of Rhode Island The VCRI Recruits volunteers for community service opportunities in the state.
Tech Corps Rhode Island TECH CORPS recruits, places and supports volunteers from the technology community who assist schools with the introduction and use of new technologies; brings additional technology resources to schools and communities through local and national projects; and, builda partnerships in support of educational technology among educators, businesses and community members at the local, state and national levels.
Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Rhode Island KIDS COUNT is a children's policy and advocacy organization that provides legislative information, publications, resources, and news.
The Providence Plan The Providence Plan is a private nonprofit organization working to improve the economic and social well-being for all city residents. They conduct data analysis and develop information tools designed to influence the decisions of community leaders and policymakers and operate programs that confront the most pressing issues facing city residents. The Providence Plan builds and maintains a data warehouse, are experts in mapping and GIS, convene community, and incubate new initiatives to address the fundamental causes of poverty and urban decline.
