Our Services
RICC is engaged in a number of activities and programs to directly service Rhode Island's colleges and universities.
Develop Collaborative Programming and Convene Partnerships with colleges/universities, community-based organizations, business, and government around issues of community service and civic engagement. RICC convenes issue-specific dialogues, highlights community-based research and service needs, improves efficiency through common trainings for similar campus service efforts and provides a vehicle for collaborative leadership.
Expand the Capacity of Campuses to Develop and Sustain Service and Civic Engagement Programs (the 'Engaged Campus') through funding and other support resources. RICC offers competitive grants to students, faculty and administrators in support of innovative programming that deepen institutional civic engagement. RICC recognizes outstanding work through awards and provides infrastructure support for new initiatives.
Promote Best Practices of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Programs through the distribution of publications and other information resources. RICC maintains a library of resources and publications including service-learning syllabi, research findings, examples of best practices and more. RICC also distributes an electronic newsletter publicizing network activities, local and national conferences, grant opportunities and new resources.
Provide Leadership Training, Technical Assistance & Professional Development on civic engagement and service-learning to students, faculty, administrators, and staff. RICC offers a wide variety of professional development opportunities and individualized services including monthly network meetings, conferences, training, and campus-specific technical assistance.
Coordinate Advocacy Efforts and Help Shape Public Policy related to higher education's involvement in service and civic learning. Rhode Island Campus Compact monitors state and national policy issues and supports public policy that advances the civic mission of higher education.
