Rhode Island Campus Compact is an intermediary organization that receives funding from the Rhode Island Service Alliance and the Corporation for National and Community Service to administer the Scholarships for Service (SFS) program throughout the state at institutions of higher education. We rely on our SFS Campus Supervisors to assist with the administration of the program and we are grateful to those SFS Campus Supervisors who are the main point of contact for the local SFS members. The SFS program is designed to operate using a train-the-trainer model. We understand campuses have varying resources to promote this program, and we have a structure that can be tailored to meet your individual campus needs.
Recruitment & Enrollment Information
RI Campus Compact will provide all of our SFS Campuses with marketing materials
to support recruitment efforts on your campus. RI Campus Compact will train
designated SFS Campus Supervisors and additional staff that are identified
to coordinate SFS locally and to assist with facilitating on-campus orientations.
RI Campus Compact will give all SFS Campuses you a "script" for the orientation,
including a PowerPoint presentation, slides, all AmeriCorps paperwork and
handbooks, and CDs to ensure consistent and complete information is provided
to potential members. You will then be able to orient and enroll students
on an as-needed basis.
RI Campus Compact has established a process for recruitment and orientation, and a representative will work with you to adapt it to meet your program/campus needs. RI Campus Compact will provide you recruitment materials. In addition, best practices will be provided and support offered to tailor best practices to your program/campus.
Students interested in the program must attend an on-campus orientation which is held each fall at the beginning of the academic year. Each member campus is able to decide when they will hold their respective orientations. All prospective SFS students must attend an orientation session to receive training for the program and fill out required program materials.
Once students are oriented and enrolled into the program, they begin their service, accumulate hours, and earn their education award!
