Personal Statement

Leadership extends beyond mere control and power; it encompasses teamwork, compassion, and the ability to build meaningful connections. Engaging with native Spanish speakers has profoundly enriched my understanding of diverse backgrounds, allowing me to form lasting bonds and cultivate a sense of community where everyone feels valued and supported. Since commencing my college journey, my goal has been to pursue a career in public health, uplifting and empowering my own community. My involvement with CBL is rooted in core values centered on service and fostering positive change. As a Latino student, connecting with fellow native Spanish-speaking students has been particularly impactful. It has enabled me to empathize with their experiences more deeply and strengthen connections through shared language and culture.

In addition, my work with the Futuro Latino Learning Center, where I teach basic computing and English to community members, has further reinforced my commitment to service and leadership. These experiences have not only enhanced my understanding of community dynamics but have also solidified my dedication to making a positive impact through education and advocacy. Through these efforts, I strive to be a compassionate and effective leader dedicated to the betterment of our community.
