VISTA Leader

Sam joins the VISTA Leadership Team after serving as a VISTA Member with the National Museum of the Pacific War. There, he designed and launched a mobile education program that brings historical artifacts, standards-aligned lesson plans, and hands-on learning experiences to Title I schools across Texas—expanding access to museum resources for underserved students.

Originally from Cincinnati, Sam holds a B.A. in history from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. In Memphis, he worked at local museums researching underrepresented histories and writing for new exhibits. He also built capacity for a legal reform nonprofit as a Service Fellow, managing volunteers for their Court Watch program and co-authoring reports on judicial misconduct to promote transparency in the criminal justice system. As president of his college’s Honor Council, Sam partnered with administrators and faculty to adjudicate cases of academic misconduct and uphold student due process rights.

Sam currently lives in Austin, Texas, where you can find him tuned into his local NPR station, being perennially disappointed by the Cincinnati Bengals, or spending time with his epileptic Boston Terrier, Besa.
