From the president
Razan puts her creative skills to work in support of causes that she cares deeply about. Razan has created designs to raise awareness as well as funds to help address health and safety conditions for people who are suffering as a result of ongoing war and conflict and ensuing humanitarian crises, such as in Sudan and Palestine. On campus, she has worked as a course assistant in the Graphic Design department and a Museum Outreach Catalyst Fellow at the MassArt Art Museum (MAAM). In these positions she works with students on critiques, gives technical help, promotes a collaborative learning environment, and features her fellow museum attendants on MAAM's Instagram to show how they support the work of the College's public, free contemporary art museum. Razan is a passionate advocate for victims of oppression, social injustices, and violence and she believes deeply in the power of art and design to not only make a difference, but to help bridge differences.
Personal Statement
I’m passionate about using graphic design and art to create spaces where marginalized voices are seen and heard. As a Muslim student, I’ve advocated for more support for my community, including pushing for a permanent prayer space and greater cultural recognition on campus. I believe these efforts are essential in creating a more inclusive environment for all students. I use my art as activism, creating protest postcards to raise funds for Sudan and Palestine while raising awareness about global issues. Design, for me, is a tool for social change, not just aesthetics.
As a Museum Outreach Catalyst Fellow at the MassArt Art Museum, I work on public programs and spotlight museum attendants on the museum’s Instagram, highlighting the contributions of MassArt students to the broader community. In addition, I assist in the classroom as a course assistant, helping foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. I’m committed to addressing social justice through creative means, whether advocating for campus resources or using art to spark conversations on important issues. I’m excited to connect with and learn from other changemakers committed to positive impact.
