From the president

Vasileios Bratsis, a third-year Psychology student at Hellenic American University, is a student leader committed to building inclusive communities and addressing the root causes of social isolation and inequality. He has worked extensively with IASIS, a mental health NGO, supporting individuals facing housing instability and mental health challenges through home visits, volunteer coordination, and peer support groups.

At Best Buddies Greece, he leads parent discussion groups, organizes inclusive events for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and mentors new volunteers to foster deeper engagement and understanding. Vasileios is also co-leading an Erasmus+ project on environmental education, where he designs training sessions and produces inclusive podcasts that bring together participants of all abilities to learn and collaborate. His efforts extend to environmental sustainability through volunteering with we4all, engaging in reforestation projects and public awareness campaigns.

As President of the Psychology Club, he also plays a key role in shaping student-led programming that promotes empathy, equity, and collective growth. Through each of these initiatives, Vasileios demonstrates a strong capacity for innovation, collaboration, and systems thinking, always working to empower those around him and create lasting, inclusive impact.

Personal Statement

My name is Vasilis Bratsis, I am 25 years old, and I am deeply committed to social impact through inclusive, community-driven work. I began my journey as a volunteer with IASIS, where I supported individuals facing housing difficulties, coordinated volunteer efforts, and led personal development groups to empower vulnerable populations. This experience shaped my passion for working at the intersection of mental health, inclusion, and education. Currently, I am an active member of Best Buddies Greece, where I facilitate educational discussion groups for parents, focusing on shared learning and addressing everyday challenges. I also organize events for people with intellectual disabilities to promote social inclusion and develop their personal and social skills. My role includes training and supporting volunteers to ensure they feel confident and connected with their contribution. Additionally, I am one of the project leaders of an Erasmus+ program that centers on environmental education. In this initiative, I create and deliver training sessions for both individuals with intellectual disabilities and volunteers. Beyond this, I volunteer with the environmental NGO we4all, participating in reforestation activities and community awareness efforts. I also currently serve as the President of the Psychology Club at Hellenic American University, where we organize events to raise awareness and bring students closer together. These gatherings foster meaningful conversations but also help create a more supportive and informed campus community.
My academic background in biomedical sciences and past experience working in hospitals have given me a strong foundation in science and care, which I now complement by studying Psychology at Hellenic American University. This shift reflects my growing dedication to understanding and supporting mental health and human development. Driven by empathy and purpose, I aim to create spaces where individuals, especially those often overlooked, can connect, grow, and be heard. My goal is to build inclusive systems that empower individuals and promote collective well-being.
