Personal Statement

Growing up, I was made painfully aware of the inequity and inequality found in our society due to my personal experiences with poverty, mental health, and homelessness. I saw how these issues could get inside someone’s mind and eat at them from the inside out, changing not only who they were, but also who they were meant to be. These experiences made me realize that I did not want to be just another statistic, and they kept me moving forward. These experiences inspired me to strive towards creating lasting and positive changes in my community through social assistance or outreach programs. Sometimes all a person needs is a little help, and I hope to be the provider of this help in order to create a better and more connected community. I look forward to creating this community through my work as a voting ambassador at Northampton Community College, and I will use the opportunity to further develop my communication and interpersonal skills in order to better assist the country of the future. One reasonable voice is all it takes to change someone’s life, and I look forward to having the chance to be this voice for others.
