You can view all of our open listings here, but below are some of the positions we’re really excited about and wanted to share:
- Pennsylvania State University - Restorative Justice Initiative (University Park, PA
- Studies show that incarcerated individuals are 48% less likely to return to prison if they receive education while incarcerated. However, less than 5% of incarcerated individuals participate in higher education programs due to systemic barriers like limited access to resources and lack of academic preparation. The Penn State Restorative Justice Initiative (RJI) seeks a VISTA member to enhance community engagement and educational opportunities for low-income, justice-impacted individuals and communities.
- Western Technical College - Food Access and Education (La Crosse, WI)
- This VISTA member will raise awareness of the Basic Needs Center, ensuring that the 40% of Western Technical College’s students who experience food insecurity have access to the resources they need to persist in their education. The coordinator will collaborate with campus teams and departments, design effective outreach materials, plan workshops and events, and partner with local experts and student organizations.
- University of Delaware - Military Connected Students Support Project (Newark, DE)
- The University of Delaware’s Office of Veteran and Military-Connected Students serves over 900 military affiliated students a year; students who are disproportonately more likely to be pell-eligible and/or first generation college student. With the ultimate goal of seeing more military-affiliated students complete four year degree programs, the VISTA member at the University of Delaware will identify and apply for grants and scholarships to augment the expense of completing a degree program for veterans who have exhausted their VA/DOD benefits.
- Stanford University - Valley Verde (Santa Clara, CA)
- Valley Verde seeks to launch a marketplace for low-income, food insecure families that grow their own produce, allowing participants to earn extra income. In its nascent stages, the VISTA member will prepare for the pilot of this marketplace by conducting community assessments, developing partnerships, and designing marketplace and guidelines.
Campus Compact VISTA members work across five of AmeriCorps' focus areas, enhancing outcomes for low-income communities in areas like healthy futures, education, and economic opportunity.
