Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Do I need to attend a Campus Compact member institution to apply?
A: No! While the Campus Compact network includes 340+ member institutions, this program is open to any qualified undergraduate student within the seven metropolitan regions.

Q: How do you define "greater metro area" in each city?
A: There is no set definition of "greater metro area" but students will need to be able to travel to the city center within 45 minutes in order to fully participate in regional programming and/or gatherings.

Q: What if I can't afford to travel to regional meetings?
A: We provide travel stipends and additional need-based support to ensure financial barriers don't prevent participation.

Q: Can international students apply?
A: Yes, as long as you meet all other eligibility requirements and are currently enrolled as an undergraduate student AND focused on U.S.-based fiscal policy long-term.

Q: When will we meet?
A: The program runs weekly from mid-January to the end of May. Weekly meetings (approximately 75 minutes each week) will alternate between national webinars (virtual) and regional cohort meetings (in-person or virtual), which will be led by experienced faculty or staff members who will provide local support and facilitate in-person gatherings. Cohort lead information will be shared with accepted students about cohort meeting times, and a national training schedule will be shared at the orientation meeting in December.

Q: What happens after the program ends?
A: Graduates will receive a Credly certification that they can put on their resume to showcase their skills and participation gained from the program. They will also become Up to Us Leadership Network alumni and have access to ongoing career development resources, networking opportunities, and continued engagement in fiscal policy advocacy.
